Can I go diving while pregnant?
Is it safe to go scuba diving while pregnant?
The short answer here, is no. According to the NHS, diving while pregnant is not considered safe as your baby does not have any protection against decompression sickness and gas embolism.
As there is very little known, the UK Sport Diving Medical Committee advises that if you are pregnant, or are trying to conceive, you should not go diving when pregnant. The Committee also notes anecdotal evidence has suggested that decompression illness caused by a dive may be harmful to a developing fetus. After having your baby, you should wait at least a month after giving birth before diving again.
